Grandpa!!! Speaking of memories, late April, 1980 was our second visit to Mt. View and the music was flowing like crazy! Every night we gathered at the lodge and made music till????. Low and behold, who showed up Saturday night but grand old Grandpa Jones! His daughter, Alicia, had been sharing in the workshops and competition and sang and played on stage. He and his wife, Ramona (a great fiddler) had started a wonderful dinner theatre just down the road. Merla and I soaked up an evening there with the Jones family serving up chow and a concert from John Hartford. Look hard at the photo and you’ll see Dana Hamilton on the hammer dulcimer with Grandpa watching intensely. Look closer and you’ll see Cathy Barton on banjo, Dave Para on guitar and a young red headed guy on guitfiddle on the right. If you bug my sister real hard she’ll show you a photo of Grandpa holding her daughter that same evening. ![]() |
